The main aspect in this project was to assist the Environmental Protection Administration in the approval of applications for subsidies to businesses that do the collection and treatment of regulated recyclable wastes, as well as to supervise the environmental protection bureaus in the management of registration and approval for the business operators so as to enhance the efficiency in the overall management for the said businesses. The major work items and achievements included: 1. Assistance and supervision to environmental protection bureaus in the overall auditing and consultation to the regulated recyclable waste collection and treatment businesses. The auditing and consultation to 5,000 collection and treatment businesses has achieved the rate of over 100% auditing (the number of businesses audited was 5,000/the number of businesses already registered was 2,122), which surpassed the originally set target and achieved the goal of strengthening pollution prevention and upgrading the image of the industry. 2. Assistance to the consultation for the regulated recyclable waste collection and treatment businesses. The project held 8 informative workshops for “Regulatory consultation to the recyclable waste collection and recycling business” as well as established the information hotline to provide more than 958 times of consultation to business operators, and made examples for references to applicants for the subsidy qualification so as to expedite on the application process. 3. Assistance in both documentary review and field investigation for the approval of qualification for subsidy. A total of 401 application reviews were completed including 25 field investigations that the average day required for the reviewing of each case was about 23 days. The consultation provided to applicants has increased the rate of on-line application to reach 100% which also effectively enhanced the application and reviewing operation through electronic management.
